Selous

Overview

The Selous is Africa’s largest game reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dotted with palm trees and crisscrossed by the channels of the Rufiji River, the Selous is as unique as it is vast. Spanning an area larger than Switzerland, only its northern tip is restricted to photographic safari. Here guests can experience the wonders of the bushveld on foot, by vehicle or on river cruises. As Africa’s largest game reserve, it is a real wilderness in the lesser-visited south of Tanzania, where there's the chance to spot the Big Five, wild dogs and huge pods of hippo – and not just on traditional 4x4 game drives, bush walks and boating safaris take place amongst forest, bushland and by the mighty Rufiji River, providing varied and rewarding game experiences; the way that safaris were originally intended.
